Belanda Hu Threadfin Alongside Aromatic Tamarind Gravy- Mff Penang #Vii



When I saw this recipe... by the looks of it... rather irksome, rather wearisome.
The motion picture in the book was all beige.... beige solely. I can't fifty-fifty meet the chilli
But afterwards tasting it.. nooooooooo, it'sec non.

How frequently we are taken just alongside looks, right?

The cite.... I curious, how does this fish relate to the Dutch? Belanda is Dutch inwards Malay. And Hu is fish inward Hokkien. Fusioned cite :)




I read Nonya Flavours once again in addition to once more as well as, thinking I have fish steaks in the freezer, I took detect of the fish recipes. My mood at once went down. I have Kerisi steaks inwards the freezer, only no Kurau. Wait.... wait for the adjacent grocery trip, too let'sec see if I'm lucky.


I was lucky! And the price was steeper than Salmon. Gosh!

I am glad I cooked this fish in addition to I will definitely prepare this again another twenty-four hours, merely haha, I won't limit myself to merely the Kurau, merely for this result, let's effort to stick to the ways of the Penangites :)

Belanda Hu (Dutch Fish)

300gm Threadfin (Kurau/Senangin) steaks
six shallots, sliced
4 big cloves of garlic, sliced
50gm tamarind pulp rubbed amongst 250ml H2O (I used 125ml cos I don't like also much gravy)
one cinnamon stick
1 crimson chilli, sliced
two Tbsp sugar (I used 2.v Tbsp)
Salt to gustatory modality if needed (I didn't role any)

i. Put inward three-4 Tbsp of crude oil into a frying pan as well as easy saute the shallots on medium low oestrus until gilded. Drain too dish upwards. Then saute the the garlic slices until aureate too crispy likewise. Drain as well as dish upwardly.
ii. With remaining fossil oil inward pan, small fry the fish steaks until gilded. Drain too dish upwardly.
iii. Put the cinnamon stick into the pan (all the same with oil) as well as on medium low oestrus, make the cinnamon stick for virtually ane infinitesimal.
4. Strain the tamarind juice into the pan. Put inward chilli slices as well as and then cut down to well-nigh preferred amount of gravy (It'll cut back even more after). Adjust the gustation with saccharide in addition to table salt if needed.
